A youth from Guapur village under Balipatna sustained injuries after being shot late Saturday night on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The incident, suspected to be linked to an old enmity, occurred outside a rented house near Balipatna police station.

The victim, identified as Deeptiranjan Mohapatra, suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm. According to reports, two individuals on a motorbike approached him and fired at him before quickly fleeing the scene.

Following the attack, Deeptiranjan was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Meanwhile, the Balipatna police have registered a case and are actively investigating to identify the culprits and determine the motive behind the shooting.

This incident bears resemblance to a previous case in Angul in 2021, where a youth was critically injured in a firing incident linked to a past rivalry.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant as further inquiries unfold.
