The Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) marked a significant milestone with its second convocation ceremony held at the Railway Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. The event, graced by Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, celebrated the achievements of students and underscored the pivotal role of technical education in shaping a developed Odisha and India.

In his address, Governor Kambhampati emphasized that technical institutions like OUTR are instrumental in realizing the vision of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat. He described the convocation not merely as a ceremonial milestone but as a defining chapter in OUTR’s journey. “The transformation of the College of Engineering and Technology into a full-fledged university reflects OUTR’s commitment to academic excellence and its ambition to meet global demands,” he said.

The Governor praised OUTR’s integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its curriculum, noting that it aligns with cutting-edge technological trends and prepares students for the digital era. By fostering innovation and industry collaboration, OUTR is equipping its graduates to thrive in a competitive global landscape. He also highlighted Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and industrial base, positioning OUTR as a hub for technology and research.

Reflecting on India’s goal to become the world’s third-largest economy, the Governor stressed that the nation’s future depends on leveraging advanced technology, encouraging innovation, and building a skilled workforce. He called on students to address pressing challenges like climate change, social inequality, and healthcare by becoming solution-providers.

The ceremony also saw inspiring remarks from Minister for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, Sampad Chandra Swain. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to advancing technical education, which is propelling Odisha to the forefront nationally. “Our focus is on empowering youth with skills and expertise to strengthen them socially and economically,” Swain said.

Professor T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, delivered a thought-provoking speech, while OUTR’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bibhuti Bhushan Biswal, welcomed the gathering and presented the university’s achievements. The event was conducted by Dean A.N. Acharya, with Registrar Ashish Kumar Jena and PGM and R&D Dean Professor Aruna Tripathy in attendance.

A highlight of the convocation was the awarding of medals to 30 outstanding students, including the prestigious Chancellor’s Gold Medal, recognizing their academic excellence.

OUTR’s second convocation reaffirmed its dedication to technology, innovation, and research, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. The university continues to prepare students to tackle future challenges, cementing its role as a beacon of progress for Odisha and beyond.
