The Odisha government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is set to significantly enhance law enforcement and public safety in the state by recruiting over 12,000 new police officers.

This announcement follows CM Majhi’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, where plans to tackle Naxalism, strengthen the police force, and implement new criminal laws were discussed.

Key initiatives include the establishment of 20 cyber police stations, deployment of forensic vehicles across all subdivisions, and the creation of a Cyber Crime Command Center. Additionally, the state government is focusing on micro-level planning to combat Maoist activities using advanced technologies such as drones and surveillance systems. The formation of a special striking force composed of ex-servicemen is also underway.

The Chief Minister emphasized Odisha’s growing potential in industrial development, following a series of agreements and investment proposals worth ₹1.03 lakh crore during his Delhi visit. A notable Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Oil Corporation Limited will bring ₹58,042 crore in investments, creating 24,000 job opportunities and establishing Odisha as a hub for petrochemical and chemical industries.

Moreover, the government plans to address traffic challenges by creating 2,000 new traffic police positions. These measures collectively aim to foster a safer environment for citizens and a favorable business climate for investors.
