Vedant Aluminium (VAML), India’s largest aluminium producer, supported the Odisha Government’s ‘Cluster Level Suravi 2026’ educational and cultural talent festival across communities near its Kuraloi, Jamkhani, and Ghogharpalli coal mining operations.
Held at Luabahal Higher Secondary School and Banjari Ashram School, the programme brought together over 1,000 students, teachers, and community members from more than 30 schools in the Hemgir and Lakhanpur blocks. Students competed in academic, literary, and cultural events, including debates, quizzes, creative writing, mathematics races, painting, singing, and dance.
Speaking on the initiative, Amares Kumar, CEO – VAML Coal Mines, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing young learners platforms to build confidence and explore their potential beyond the classroom. Rajendra Prasad, Block Education Officer, Lakhanpur, commended VAML’s support in widening rural access to developmental opportunities.
This initiative aligns with VAML Coal Mines’ broader education project, Project Vidya, which has benefited over 39,000 students with additional teaching support and learning resources. Overall, VAML’s community development programs have positively impacted over 2 lakh people across 26 villages in Jharsuguda and Sundaragada districts through interventions in education, healthcare, livelihoods, and social infrastructure.
