Ahead of the highly anticipated Diwali release of Nitesh Tiwari’s cinematic adaptation Ramayana, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor drew a fascinating parallel between ancient Indian texts and modern technology, comparing the epic’s Pushpaka Vimana to Elon Musk’s latest Tesla innovations.
Speaking during a promotional interview with Star Talks alongside co-stars Yash, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, and director Nitesh Tiwari, Kapoor highlighted the advanced concepts presented in ancient Indian history.
‘Pushpaka Vimana Was the Original Flying Vehicle’: Ranbir Kapoor
During the interaction, when the host praised the ancient warfare visuals and the cutting-edge VFX crafted by Academy Award-winning studio DNEG, Kapoor pointed to recent tech developments in Texas:
”Elon Musk recently invented a flying car. I think India did it 5,000 years ago!”
The actor was referencing Tesla’s recent demonstration event in Waco, Texas, where CEO Elon Musk showcased a prototype electric supercar capable of remaining airborne for several seconds.
In the Ramayana, the Pushpaka Vimana—crafted by celestial architect Vishwakarma—is described as a self-moving, airborne palace that could travel at the speed of thought and adapt its size to accommodate any number of passengers.
Co-producer and co-star Yash added that the epic’s themes remain strikingly relatable and timeless when viewed through a contemporary lens.
