State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have announced a fresh round of fuel price hikes effective Nov 1, delivering an inflationary blow to the hospitality, restaurant, and aviation sectors right at the peak of the festive season.
The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 10, bringing retail rates in the national capital to Rs 2,820. Concurrently, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were raised by Rs 1.37 per litre to Rs 138.50 per litre in Delhi, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase for jet fuel.
Revised rate lists also place a 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinder refill at Rs 782. Meanwhile, domestic LPG rates, petrol, and diesel prices remain unchanged.
The upward revisions reflect surging global crude benchmarks, driven by intensifying Middle East hostilities, elevated freight tariffs, and marine insurance premiums. Brent crude surged nearly 14% across October to settle at $117.64 per barrel, propelling India’s crude import basket past the $120 mark—a 14-year high.
Additionally, higher Saudi Aramco contract rates and foreign exchange volatility continue to exert cost pressures on domestic energy distributors. With passenger traffic surging and commercial demands peaking, businesses across sectors face escalating operational overheads amidst ongoing global supply anxieties.
