Actor Katrina Kaif has issued a sharp response to social media trolls who targeted her over postpartum weight gain, firmly rejecting society’s obsession with women “bouncing back” after childbirth.
In a candid cover story interview with Vogue, the Tiger 3 star shut down body-shaming comments that surfaced online following her appearance at a Mumbai Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, where internet users criticized her changing physical appearance less than a year after welcoming her son, Vihaan, with husband Vicky Kaushal.
‘A Step Ahead, Not Backward’
Scoffing at unsolicited public commentary surrounding her body and career longevity, Katrina questioned the unrealistic aesthetic standards imposed on new mothers:
”Bounce back? From where? I have taken a step ahead towards something that was a deep desire in my heart, so why would I want to go back?”
Reflecting on her journey to motherhood, the actor opened up about the emotional moment she first held her son, who turns one on November 7. She described seeing Vihaan’s face for the first time as an “indescribable feeling,” capping a “tumultuous four-year journey” for herself and Vicky Kaushal.
Katrina emphasized that she remains fully in control of her health and wellness at her own comfort level, stating:
”I am very aware of my fitness journey and where my body feels at its most energetic. I will reach there at my own pace.”
Handling Criticism and Self-Acceptance
Addressing public scrutiny at a recent Kay Beauty brand event in London, Katrina offered empowering advice to women navigating social media commentary and self-worth.
She cautioned against catering to public expectations, noting that allowing online noise to dictate personal choices can lead to being “paralysed with fear.” Encouraging women to become their “own biggest cheerleader,” she urged fans to practice self-compassion across different phases of life.
Katrina’s candid stance has drawn widespread praise across social media, sparking renewed conversations around postpartum care, body positivity, and fair treatment of female celebrities in mainstream media.
