Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will embark on a two-day visit to Mayurbhanj to join President Droupadi Murmu during her hometown tour on November 4 and 5.
The President’s visit, originally scheduled for October 28-29, was rescheduled due to Cyclone Dana and adverse weather conditions. Chief Minister Majhi will arrive straight from his Delhi tour to accompany the President throughout her official engagements.
Heavy preparations are underway in Rairangpur and the broader Mayurbhanj district to accommodate the high-profile itinerary, which focuses heavily on regional healthcare improvements, infrastructure development, and community welfare.
Day 1: November 4 (Arrival, Healthcare & Infrastructure)
President Murmu will enter Odisha via Kalaikunda in West Bengal, flying into Dandabose Airport in Mayurbhanj via an Indian Air Force helicopter. She will then travel by road to the Maa Kichakeswari Temple in Bahalda to offer prayers.
The first day places a strong emphasis on medical infrastructure. The President will attend a program highlighting a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Health Department and P.D. Hinduja Hospital, alongside the launch of a new nephrology treatment campaign. She will subsequently visit the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital to review its current healthcare facilities and treatment capabilities.
In the afternoon, at the Rairangpur Kacheri ground, the President will lay the foundation stones for several developmental projects. These include the Maa Kichakeswari Temple development, 37 Jahera, the Rairangpur Goshala, and the Tribal Social Educational and Cultural Association Bhavan.
She will announce the construction of a new sports hostel at the Rairangpur Sports Complex and flag off the new Badampahar-Puri Daily Express train.
The President will spend the night at her ancestral home in Rairangpur.
Day 2: November 5 (Community Welfare & Skill Development)
The day will begin at 9 AM with prayers at the Laxmi Mandap in Mahuldiha, Ward No. 1, followed by a visit to the Rairangpur Sports Complex.
President Murmu will visit a newly constructed CSD Canteen for ex-servicemen, built by the Ministry of Defence, where she will felicitate three ‘Veer Naris’ (war widows).
At 12:15 PM, the President is scheduled to review skill development initiatives and interact with Sickle Cell patients. She will inspect the Multi-Skill Development Centre located at Iron College in Gorumahisani, followed by a detailed interaction with Sickle Cell patients at the Rairangpur Town Hall.
The President will depart for Delhi at 3 PM.
Administrative and Security Preparations
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and other VVIPs will be hosted at the newly constructed Holiday Home and Government Circuit House in Rairangpur, which have been fully equipped with VVIP suites.
To ensure a seamless and secure visit, the Mayurbhanj district administration and police force have mobilized extensive resources. Mayurbhanj Collector Hemkant Say, alongside Mayurbhanj SP Varun Guntupalli, Rairangpur Police District SP Suresh Chandra Patra, and Bamanghaty ADM Ajit Kumar, have conducted joint field inspections across all venues.
Security protocols will be stringent, with an estimated 65 platoons of police expected to be deployed for route lining, traffic control, and public safety during the presidential motorcade’s transit. District officials note that this deployment figure serves as a proposed baseline to guarantee foolproof security across all event locations.
