In a massive blow to transnational organised crime, Indian security agencies have successfully dismantled a sprawling international narco-cartel.

Executed under the banner of Operation Trident, a barrage of synchronised crackdowns was unleashed across 38 strategic locations spanning the states of Assam, Mizoram, and Manipur on October 23.

The high-stakes coordinated offensive struck deep into the financial and operational bedrock of the syndicate, exposing a staggering ₹100 crore worth of hawala transactions. As part of the clampdown, authorities froze 1,424 bank accounts linked to the network and formally attached properties valued at Rs 17.82 crore. The multi-agency teams also recovered critical contraband and logistics, including 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash, while taking 18 individuals into custody.

Modi Govt deals another lethal blow against drugs with Operation Trident.

Our agencies launched a barrage of simultaneous crackdowns across 38 locations in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur on 23 October, smashing an international narco-cartel. The operation revealed ₹100 crore worth of hawala transactions, froze 1,424 bank accounts, attached properties worth ₹17.82 crore, seized 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash, and led to the arrest of 18 people.

The network trafficked narcotics across the borders of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh through the Death Triangle Corridor. The offensive attests to India’s Himalayan resolve to realise the mission of eradicating every drug network by 31 December 2029. India will hammer until the last nail is driven into the coffin of drug cartels.

Heartiest congratulations to the anti-narcotics team comprising central agencies, and police forces of the three states.

Shattering the ‘Death Triangle Corridor’

Investigations revealed that the neutralised syndicate operated an extensive cross-border trafficking matrix, smuggling narcotics through the volatile Death Triangle Corridor bridging the borders of India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. By exploiting regional terrain, the cartel funnelled illicit substances while utilising complex financial channels to launder proceeds.

Reiterating the central government’s uncompromising stance on national security, leadership underscored India’s unwavering resolve to completely root out drug networks. Stressing a zero-tolerance policy, authorities reaffirmed the national mission to eradicate every trace of the drug menace by December 31, 2029, declaring that security forces will continue to hammer away until the last nail is driven into the coffin of drug cartels.

The sweeping success of Operation Trident has drawn widespread acclaim, with heartfelt congratulations extended to the composite anti-narcotics task force—comprising central intelligence agencies alongside the dedicated police forces of Assam, Mizoram, and Manipur.
