Oil India Limited (OIL) and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) have signed an MoU to establish a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Jagatpur, Cuttack, with an investment of Rs 150 crore.

Spanning 11 acres, this state-of-the-art facility will process 200 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily to produce 10-15 tonnes of compressed biogas and organic manure.

Scheduled to become operational within 22 months, the project is expected to create 75 direct jobs in technical and managerial roles. With OIL managing design, funding, construction, and operations, and CMC supplying segregated waste, the initiative aims to revolutionize waste management in Odisha and contribute to the state’s green energy vision.

This project, following Odisha High Court’s directives on waste management, is part of a larger plan to set up similar facilities in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Sambalpur, Rourkela, and Berhampur, driving a significant leap towards sustainable energy solutions in the region.
