Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been given the green light by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team to return to competitive cricket in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The star pacer, who has been recovering from a back injury, will join the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp within the next two days.
The injury had sidelined Bumrah since January, casting doubts over his participation in the tournament. However, after receiving fitness clearance, Bumrah’s much-anticipated return could revitalize MI’s struggling campaign, having lost three out of their first four matches.
Despite the good news, fans will have to wait a little longer to see Bumrah in action. Sources reveal that he will undergo two simulation games to prove his match fitness. This means the speedster is unlikely to feature in MI’s upcoming game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7.
If all goes according to plan, Bumrah is expected to don the MI jersey on April 13 against Delhi Capitals in an away fixture. His return is crucial for MI, who are looking to turn their fortunes around and climb up the IPL points table.
Bumrah’s comeback is not only a significant boost for Mumbai Indians but also for Indian cricket, as fans eagerly await his return to peak form.
