Bhubaneswar: Around 73% voter turnout was reported in the fourth phase voting of three-tier Panchayat Elections in Odisha on Tuesday, informed the State Election Commission.
State Election Commissioner, Aditya Prasad Padhi told media persons that the fourth phase of polling for the three-tier Panchayat elections concluded peacefully with disruption in voting reported in four-five places.
As per the SEC, around 83% voter turnout was reported in Jajpur’s Nagada which was deprived of polls for two decades due to connectivity constraints. Besides, in Maoist-infested Niyamgiri Trilochanpur 80 % polling was recorded during the fourth phase of panchayat elections
The fourth phase of the Panchayat polls was held in 163 Zilla Parishad zones spread over 64 blocks of Odisha. Polling was held at 17,089 booths in 1,254 Gram Panchayats spread over 27 districts of the state.
