Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has officially put an end to rumours suggesting that his highly anticipated project with Icon Star Allu Arjun, tentatively titled AA23, had been shelved.
Taking to social media, the director posted a picture of himself engaged in discussion with the actor, captioning it: “Interesting updates coming soon.”

The update arrives as a major relief to fans following recent online speculation about the action entertainer being called off. Pre-production for AA23 is reportedly well underway, with full story narration completed.
Principal photography is expected to commence in Dec 2026, targeting a festive Christmas 2027 theatrical release.
Touted as a stylish, Western-inspired action drama, the film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. While co-writer Rathna Kumar described the project as a “proper pan-Indian film,” reports also suggest that Pooja Hegde is being considered for the female lead, marking her third collaboration with Allu Arjun after DJ and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun is also gearing up for Atlee’s directorial Raaka alongside Deepika Padukone.
