The 73rd All India Police Hockey Championship continued to captivate sports enthusiasts on its fourth day at Kalinga Stadium, with seven electrifying matches showcasing skill, determination, and competitive spirit.
The event, organized by the State Police Headquarters, saw teams from across India vying for supremacy in this prestigious tournament.
The day kicked off with a gripping encounter between the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). CISF emerged victorious with a close 3-2 scoreline. In the second match, the Border Security Force (BSF) dominated Kerala Police, securing a resounding 6-0 win. The third match saw the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) overpower Tamil Nadu Police 5-2, while Manipur Police outplayed West Bengal Police 4-2 in the fourth game.
In the women’s category, Uttar Pradesh Police triumphed over Maharashtra Police with a 3-0 victory in the fifth match. The sixth game witnessed Punjab Police delivering a stunning 8-0 thrashing to Tripura Police. The day concluded with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) defeating Chandigarh Police 4-1 in the seventh match.
Adding to the excitement, distinguished guests graced the event, cheering on the players. Among them were Gokulananda Mallik, Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development; Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education; B. Parameswaran, Central Revenue Commissioner; Deepankar Mahapatra, Director of Sports; Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, Director of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development; Sanjeev Panda, Additional Director General of Police (Director, BPSPA); Dayal Gangwar, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) and Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee; Anup Kumar Sahu, IG (Training) and Secretary of the Organizing Committee; Batula Gangadhar, DIG (Crime Branch); and Vivekananda Sharma, SP (Railways).
The championship continues to highlight the athletic prowess of India’s police forces, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship. With more thrilling matches lined up, Kalinga Stadium remains the epicentre of hockey action this week.
