In a precautionary move to safeguard students, the administrations of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts have declared holidays for 383 schools today due to worsening flood conditions.
In Jajpur district, the Collector ordered the closure of 244 schools across eight flood-hit blocks — Bari, Dasarathpur, Binjharpur, Rasulpur, Korei, Dharmasala, Jajpur and Badachana. The District Education Officer issued an official notification confirming the suspension of classes.
Meanwhile, in Bhadrak district, authorities declared 139 schools closed across four blocks — Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar and Chandbali. Additionally, 225 Anganwadi centres in five blocks, including Basudevpur, have been shut.
Officials emphasised that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure student safety amid rising waters and waterlogging in several areas.
