Shock and grief gripped Odisha’s Baleshwar district on Friday morning after a 28-year-old car showroom owner was found hanging from a tree in a nearby dense forest.
While local authorities have registered an unnatural death case, the deceased’s family strongly refutes suicide claims, alleging he was murdered over business rivalries or personal enmity.
The young entrepreneur, who operated a well-known automobile dealership in the district, had gone missing during standard hours before his body was discovered by locals venturing into the forest area. On being alerted, a team from the local police station rushed to the spot alongside forensic experts to secure the area and retrieve the body for a post-mortem examination.
Tension flared outside the crime scene as the victim’s father openly accused unidentified perpetrators of foul play. Speaking to reporters, the distraught father claimed his son had no reason to end his life and alleged that he was abducted, killed elsewhere, and subsequently hanged to stage a suicide.
“My son was building a successful business and had no mental stress or financial distress,” the father asserted, urging police to conduct a thorough homicide investigation and review CCTV footage from surrounding routes.
Baleshwar police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Officers confirmed that while the body has been sent to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy, all angles—including murder, abduction, and financial disputes—are currently being probed.
“We are waiting for the detailed post-mortem report to establish the exact cause and time of death. Mobile phone location records and recent call details are being analysed to trace his final movements,” stated a senior police official.
The unexpected demise of the young businessman has sparked widespread concern among local merchant associations, who have demanded a swift and transparent investigation to bring the truth to light.
