Bhubaneswar: About 15 police personnel from Odisha will be awarded the Police medals for Gallantry, Distinguished and Meritorious services on the occasion of Independence Day 2022 on Monday.
While commandoes Kumar Karmi and Pitabasa Pande of Odisha have been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry, Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarsi and Superintendent of Police (in-charge), security wing, Bhubaneswar, Saroj Kumar Mohapatra have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Similarly, 11 personnel from the State were awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service. They are: Additional Superintendent of Police (Vigilance cell), Cuttack Prakash Kumar Naik; Deputy Superintendent of Police (STF), Bhubaneswar Sachidanand Rath; Deputy Superintendent of Police (BPSPA), Bhubaneswar Guruprasad Shivasankar Nanda; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rourkela Banita Majhi; Sub-Inspector of Police (CID), Cuttack N Trinath Dora; Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (special squad), Sambalpur Mohammed Jahangir; Havildar (OSAP 2nd Battalion), Jharsuguda Bishnu Kumar Bura; driver Havildar, Angul Hrushikesh Barik; Assistant Armourer (SOG), Koraput Basanta Kumar Dakua; Constable, DFSL Sundargarh Anjan Kumar Mohanty and sepoy (OSAP 3rd Battalion), Koraput Prasanta Parida have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
A total of 1,082 police personnel from across the country will receive the gallantry and other medals on the occasion, said a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today.
As per the notification, as many as 347 cops have been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) while 87 personnel received President’s Police Medal (PPM) for Distinguished Service. Besides, altogether 648 personnel have been given Police Medal (PM) for Meritorious Service.
