The Block Education Office in Gudari, Rayagada district, issued show-cause notices to 13 teachers for repeatedly arriving late to school, sparking discussions about accountability and discipline in the education system.
According to official communication dated April 10, 2026, the teachers were seen heading toward their respective schools from Gudari town even after classes had already begun at 6:30 a.m. The office cited negligence of duty and directed them to respond within three days. Failure to comply will invite disciplinary action.
Block Education Officer Lokanath Suna confirmed the action, stating that additional BEO Rupamajhi had reported the incident. He added that two days earlier, he personally observed teachers outside MK Rai School during school hours. He warned that future violations would lead to strict measures.
The notices have created a stir in the block, with many welcoming the move. Teachers who regularly attend on time expressed support, calling it a step toward restoring discipline. The Gudari Teachers’ Association also responded, with president Subash Chandra Gauda urging all teachers to respect school timings and avoid negligence. He announced that a delegation will meet the BEO on Monday to discuss the matter further.
