At least ten jawans from the 2nd Battalion sustained injuries in a late-night road accident on National Highway 55 near Mundasahi in Odisha’s Angul district.
According to reports, the personnel were travelling in a Traveller vehicle from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar when it crashed into a broken-down truck parked on the highway.
The impact left seven jawans critically injured. Local residents rushed to the scene, quickly helping evacuate the injured to the district headquarters hospital in Angul.
Medical officials confirmed that five of the critically injured were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. Three others sustained minor injuries and are currently undergoing treatment in Angul.
Preliminary investigation suggests the stationary truck had no safety warning indicators, contributing to the collision. Authorities are probing further into the matter.
