Sambalpur: A youth was found lying in a pool of blood beside a road near Burla petrol pump here on Wednesday morning. He was identified as Ram Meher, a resident of Bisnu Mandirpoda in Burla in the district.
According to reports, two miscreants allegedly attacked Meher with sharp weapon and dumped him on road in a critical condition near the petrol pump before fleeing the spot. Several cut marks and injuries were reported on the body of Meher.
On being informed by locals, police reached the spot and rushed Meher to Burla hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
While the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to be a case of past enmity, said sources.
Meanwhile, Police have initiated an investigation and are also examining the CCTV footage collected from near the crime site.
