Angul district witnessed a shocking incident on Wednesday night when a woman was stoned to death in her rented house at Khalari Jamubandha under Angul Sadar police station.
Reports confirmed that the victim, Kuni Nayak (47), was found lying in a pool of blood after being battered with stones. Her son discovered the body when he went to call her for dinner. He immediately informed the police, who rushed to the scene and began an investigation.
Consequently, a scientific team and sniffer dogs arrived on Thursday morning to assist in gathering evidence. Authorities sent Kuni’s body to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, police detained the victim’s daughter-in-law and the daughter-in-law’s mother for questioning. Investigators are working to determine their possible involvement in the crime.
However, the motive behind the murder remains unclear. Police stated that they will continue the probe until they uncover the circumstances leading to the brutal killing.
