Several users across India reported difficulties accessing WhatsApp Web on Friday morning, with complaints primarily related to login failures and chat syncing problems.
According to outage-tracking platform Downdetector, reports of disruption spiked around 9:00 am IST, indicating a sudden rise in user complaints.
Spike in Reports Around 9 AM
Downdetector recorded at least 16 disruption reports at approximately 8:54 am in India. Within 30 minutes, the number increased to at least 28, suggesting the issue persisted beyond the initial spike.
Users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences. Several posts mentioned problems linking devices and logging in via iPhone and desktop browsers.
Notably, the disruption appeared limited to the web version of the messaging platform, while the mobile application remained largely unaffected for most users.

At the time of writing, Meta Platforms, the parent company of WhatsApp, had not issued an official statement regarding the reported outage. No updates were posted on WhatsApp’s official communication channels.
