Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik today described party’s spectacular win in Jharsuguda bypoll as the victory of people and womanhood.
“This victory is the victory of the people of Jharsuguda. The victory of womanhood,” Patnaik said while congratulating party leaders and workers during his speech at Sankha Bhawan here.
The CM said he and his party are indebted to the people of Jharsuguda. He thanked lakhs of party workers who toiled hard in gruesome heat.
The CM promised to take Jharsuguda to take new height. “I promise that Biju Janata Dal will further strengthen its efforts for the betterment of Jharsuguda. The trend of development started by Nab Babu will be taken further”, he pointed out.
Taking a jibe at Opposition, the BJD supremo said people have given a fitting reply to the Opposition party which disrespected women.
During the Padmapur by-election, the opposition disrespected women. BJD’s woman candidate was abused in bad language, he said.
“Be it Padmapur or Jharsuguda, everywhere they have abused the girls who have lost their fathers. In every by-election, they have been criticizing Mission Shakti leaders, grassroots workers and mothers,” Patnaik maintained.
“He further pointed out “History is witness. People of Odisha have never tolerated such disrespect towards women”.
The CM said Biju Janata Dal has always encouraged participation of women in public life.
Mission Shakti has empowered them by bringing them out of the four walls of kitchen. Mission Shakti believes in this Ideology. Opposition parties have always been against women empowerment, Patnaik flayed.
“This is a dangerous trend. The people of Odisha have always disliked, rejected such conducts,” the CM added.
