Veteran Odia film producer, industrialist, and social worker Rabi Swain died on Tuesday morning at the age of 75.
He breathed his last at 6 am while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He had been battling liver cirrhosis.
Swain, a prominent figure from Pipili, earned respect for his immense contribution to the Odia film industry. He produced several acclaimed films, such as Jor Jar Mulak Tar directed by Raju Mishra, Ki Heba Sua Posile directed by Basant Sahu, and Panjuri Bhitare Sari and Udandi Sita directed by Avtar Singh. These films won appreciation across Odisha and strengthened his reputation as a visionary producer.
Beyond cinema, Swain shaped Odisha’s educational landscape. He founded institutions including Kshetramohan Memorial Trust, Om Shanti College of Science and Technology, Kshetramohan ITC, and Daitari ITC. His initiatives promoted education and skill development, empowering countless students in the region.
