Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said new guidelines are likely to be issued soon for visitors from the states where there is surge in COVID cases.
Coronavirus cases have resurfaced again in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Kerala and Chhattisgarh. The UP government is contemplating compulsory testing and quarantining for travellers coming from the ‘red zones’.
Director general of health department Dr DS Negi said despite decrease in coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh, the situation is being monitored following the spike in bordering states.
Official sources said the authorities were ordered to closely monitor the situation and carry on treatment aggressively to contain the dreaded virus.
Wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing including other COVID guidelines has to be ensured, the sources added.
