Bolangir: Two minor girls of Titlagarh town drowned in Bahidarpada nullah on Thursday. They were identified as Shraddha Padhi (7) and Rakhi Rath (7).
While Shraddha is the daughter of social activist, Sanjiv Padhi, Rakhi is the daughter of a grocery shopkeeper, Saroj Rath.
According to reports, both the girls had gone to play near the nullah. Locals alerted the police after their friend informed that both the girls drowned in the nullah.
On intimation, fire brigade personnel reached the spot immediately and undertook a search operation to rescue the girls. They could retrieve Shraddha first but Rakhi had gone missing for hours. After a frantic search, the body of Rakhi was also recovered from the nullah.
Women and Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu had visited the district headquarters hospital and expressed grief over the matter.
