Bolangir: Over 1700 Bottles Of Cough Syrup Seized; 18 Held
Bolangir: Police seized a huge cache of cough syrups while being smuggled to Bolangir and Bargarh districts and arrested 18 persons involved in the illegal trade.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted two cars loaded with Cough Syrups near Sudapada Kalyan Mandap. During the search, 1600 bottles of Eskuf Cough Syrup and 119 bottles of Wincerex Cough Syrup, a hockey stick and deadly weapons were seized. Two people from Cuttack who were smuggling the cough syrup were caught by the police.
Later, the police raided various places and arrested several youths who were involved in smuggling the drugs. Two cars, 3 motorcycles, and 15 mobile phones have also been seized from them.
Accused Maheshwar Mohanty & Javed Taslim, of Cuttack and Sunil alias Bishikesan Putel of Luhasinghar are the main suppliers, informed, Bolangir SP Rishikesh Khilari at a press conference held at the reserve police ground today.
Among the arrested accused are Maheshwar Mohanty & Javed Taslim of Cuttack, Sunil alias Bishikesan Patel of Luhasinghar, Bhimsen Karai alias Bitu of Bargarh Padmapur, Lingaraj Sahu of Jagdalpur, Sudhanshu Patel, Sourabh Sahu of Patnagarh Badpada, Roshan Kumar Sahu, of Luhasingha, Rashmi Ranjan Singhbariha, Abhimanyu Sahu, Ashish Putel, Niranjan Sahu, Karuna Rana, Manojkumar Bajpai, Amir Khan, Sachin Budek and Brajraj Rana. All the accused will be forwarded to the court after medical examination, the Bolangir SP added.
