A tragic incident occurred in Cuttack on Sunday afternoon when two minor boys, aged around 11 and 12 years, went missing in the Kathajodi River near Kulasarichua in 42 Mouza. The suspected drowning took place around 1 PM, according to initial reports.
Rescue Efforts Underway
Local residents said the boys had gone to bathe in the river when they were swept away by a strong current. Despite immediate efforts by bystanders, the children could not be located.
Following the incident, villagers promptly alerted the authorities, and a fire services team from Chauliaganj rushed to the spot. The team has launched an intensive search and rescue operation to trace the missing boys.
Officials said scuba divers may be deployed if needed to assist in the ongoing operation.
Victims Identified
Preliminary information indicates that both boys are residents of Bastakundal village in Cuttack district. Their identities have not been released as families await confirmation.
