In a tragic road accident on National Highway 353 near Palasipani, a truck rammed into a motorcycle carrying three young men, resulting in the instant death of two riders and severe injuries to the third. The incident occurred on January 8 while the victims were returning to Golabandh.

The deceased have been identified as Shiv Majhi from Khairbhadi under Komna police station and Sagar Majhi from Golabandh under Nuapada police station. The injured youth, whose identity is yet to be fully confirmed, has been admitted to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.

According to reports, the three friends were riding a single motorcycle towards Golabandh when an oncoming truck hit them head-on at Palasipani. The impact was so severe that two riders died on the spot. The truck fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Komna police acted swiftly and seized the absconding truck bearing registration number CG06EM0709. Komna Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rashmita Pradhan confirmed the seizure and stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause and apprehend the driver.

This stretch of NH-353 has witnessed a rising number of accidents, claiming innocent lives almost daily. Locals allege that despite regular checking by the transport and police departments at various points, road users continue to flout traffic rules, leading to such mishaps. Overloading, speeding, and lack of adherence to safety norms are commonly cited as contributing factors.
