Balasore district witnessed disciplinary action after two Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) were suspended for allegedly dumping medicines on a roadside.
The incident occurred near Nimiki Chhak in Remuna on December 11, where packets of iron and folic acid syrups were found scattered.
Following the incident, Balasore Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) ordered the immediate suspension of the two ANMs. The suspended staff include Tanusmita Nayak from Kuligaon and Kabita Behera from Inchudi sub-centre.
Remuna Medical, In-charge Dr Ramchandra Kisku confirmed the action and stated that strict measures were necessary to maintain accountability in public health services. The discovery of medicines on the roadside sparked concern among locals, who questioned the handling and distribution of essential drugs.
Authorities emphasised that such negligence undermines public trust in healthcare delivery. The suspension aims to send a strong message against irresponsible practices in the medical system.
