Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor Vijay, has denied any possibility of joining the AIADMK-led NDA in Tamil Nadu.
The party dismissed reports of an electoral pact as mere speculation.
TVK Joint General Secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar clarified after a virtual meeting with district secretaries on March 13 that the BJP remains an ideological opponent. He said, “There’s no scope for an alliance with the NDA. We have already made it clear that the BJP is our ideological enemy.” He urged party members to ignore rumours and rely only on official announcements.
BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran avoided a direct reply when asked about alliance talks. Instead, he shifted focus to governance issues, citing failures in law and order and women’s safety in Tamil Nadu.
Party insiders revealed that district secretaries conveyed to TVK General Secretary N Anand that the party’s chances of victory could improve with an alliance. However, the leadership reiterated its stance against joining hands with the NDA.
Nirmal Kumar further accused the media and social platforms of spreading daily rumours to divert attention from real issues. He emphasised that TVK members should remain united and follow only official communication.
