Days before the theatrical release of Nani-starrer The Paradise, a Bengaluru court has restrained the circulation of specific allegedly false and defamatory content concerning the film.
According to a report by Live Law cited by Hindustan Times, the XXXV Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge, Bengaluru, passed an ex parte ad interim injunction on September 19, 2026.
The order came on an application filed by the film’s producer, Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP. The producers had also sought a permanent and mandatory injunction against the defendants.
What Did The Paradise Producers Tell the Court?
The production house told the court that a substantial investment had been made in the film’s production, marketing and distribution.
The plea claimed that several social media posts, comments and URLs containing allegedly false and derogatory material began circulating after the film’s official teaser was released on August 6.
The producers argued that the material went beyond fair criticism and amounted to targeted commercial defamation. They also told the court that continued circulation could cause serious financial and reputational harm to the film.
Court’s Observations
After examining the submissions and documents placed before it, the court held that the producer had established a prima facie case.
The court observed that the material identified in the case appeared to go beyond standard artistic evaluation and seemingly sought to diminish the commercial value of the production.
It also noted that unrestricted viral dissemination immediately before the film’s release could result in unquantifiable and irreversible economic and reputational damage.
The court consequently found that the balance of convenience favoured the producer.
What Does the Injunction Say?
The court restrained the defendants, their officers, agents and persons acting through them from hosting, publishing, transmitting, reproducing or making available the allegedly false and defamatory content specifically identified in the schedule to the plaint.
The order is an interim injunction, meaning the court’s order at this stage concerns the specified material while the broader legal proceedings continue.

The period action drama is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner. The film stars Nani, Kayadu Lohar, Raghav Juyal and Mohan Babu in key roles.

The film has faced multiple changes to its release schedule, having initially been planned for March and later August. It is now scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 24, 2026.
