J&K: Following recent operations in the Kulgam and Chinigham areas, terrorists attacked an Indian Army convoy in the Machedi area of Kathua district on Monday.
Officials stated that this area in Jammu and Kashmir is under the jurisdiction of the 9th Corps of the Indian Army.
“Our troops responded to the terrorists’ fire. We are awaiting further details,” said defence officials.
Two soldiers were injured in the attack that took place at Badnota village in Lohai Malhar, 150 kilometres from Kathua town when some Army vehicles were on a routine patrol in the area.
This is the second attack on the Indian Army in the Jammu region in the past 48 hours. On Sunday army camp in Rajouri district was attacked injuring one soldier.
There has been an increase in terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few months.
In June, security forces neutralized three terrorists during an encounter in the Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, according to ADGP Anand Jain.
