A major surrender ceremony took place at the Reserve Police Ground in Phulbani, Kandhamal district, where ten Maoists gave up arms before security forces.

The event was held in the presence of ADGP (Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, who confirmed that the group included both senior cadres and women members. Among the surrendered were four male cadres and six female cadres, marking a significant defection from the Maoist ranks.

The surrendered Maoists were identified as Sonu Patam (alias Nitu), Santai Salam, Laxmi Madavi (alias Anupa), Sunil Telam, Manjula Punem, Rambati Ayam, Ganesh Kunjam, Sushila Dudi, Sharir Kuhudam, and Chodi Yodi.

Officials said the surrender followed sustained anti-Naxal operations and awareness campaigns in Kandhamal. Security forces also seized Maoist weapons during the ceremony, details of which were shared in a press release.
