Defending champion Iga Swiatek and 2023 titleholder Elena Rybakina showcased their dominance at the Indian Wells tournament on Sunday, advancing to the fourth round with commanding performances.
Swiatek, the second seed, dismantled Dayana Yastremska with a decisive 6-0, 6-2 victory, securing her place in the next round. The Polish player is aiming to become the first woman to win the tournament three times. Swiatek’s aggressive play saw her reel off ten consecutive games, wrapping up the match in just 65 minutes.
Swiatek will face 15th seed Karolina Muchova in the round of 16, following the Czech player’s victory over her compatriot Katerina Siniakova.
Meanwhile, Rybakina triumphed over Britain’s Katie Boulter, overcoming a tough second set to win 6-0, 7-5. After cruising through the first set, Rybakina found herself trailing 3-5 in the second but rallied back to claim victory.
Rybakina will next play either Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva or Clara Tauson of Denmark.
