Sundargarh Sadar Police seized 90 kilograms of ganja and arrested two men from Uttar Pradesh after intercepting a car with a fake Bhubaneswar registration plate near Karamdihi Bagbandha.
Acting on a tip‑off, Sundargarh Sadar police launched an operation under the direction of the Superintendent of Police. The Sub‑Divisional Police Officer led the team and intercepted the vehicle on Wednesday night.
The car attempted to flee but was chased and stopped near Karamdihi. On searching the vehicle, police recovered approximately 90 kilograms of ganja concealed inside. Investigators confirmed that the car carried a fake Bhubaneswar registration plate.
Two occupants, both natives of Uttar Pradesh, were taken into custody. Preliminary investigation suggested that the consignment was being smuggled to Uttar Pradesh. Police have initiated a further probe to trace the source and identify others linked to the smuggling network.
