Stray Kids have addressed questions surrounding BTS’ decision not to submit their latest album for the Grammy Awards, but the K-pop group stopped short of directly commenting on BTS or its stance.

During a press conference for their mini album THIS & That, Stray Kids members were asked about the ongoing Grammy discussion. Instead of taking a direct position, Seungmin spoke about the group’s approach to music and their focus on connecting with fans.

Stray Kids respond to BTS Grammys question

According to Koreaboo, Seungmin said the group does not create music or performances based on outside opinions.

“When we talk about the music we love, we don’t create performances, write songs, or write lyrics based on outside opinions,” Seungmin said.

He added that the group prefers to focus on its own musical identity rather than external criticism or expectations.

Stray Kids also expressed gratitude for the growing global popularity of K-pop.

“We’re truly grateful that K-Pop is receiving so much love around the world,” Seungmin said, adding that seeing their music reach listeners motivates the group to continue creating.

Hyunjin says Stray Kids focus on music, not awards

Hyunjin also highlighted the group’s approach to awards and achievements.

“Since debuting as Stray Kids, we’ve never once promoted with awards or records as our goal,” he said.

He added that the group would continue giving its best through its music, with fans remaining its biggest priority.

“Our biggest priority is making our fans happy,” Hyunjin said.

The comments appeared to steer the conversation away from directly discussing BTS’ decision while emphasising Stray Kids’ own philosophy towards music and recognition.

Why did BTS decide not to submit for the Grammys?

The Stray Kids comments come after BTS announced that they would not submit their latest album for Grammy consideration.

The decision followed the creation of a separate Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, according to the report cited by the publication.

BTS’ decision has generated discussion among K-pop fans and the wider music community, particularly around how Asian and K-pop artists are represented within major international award shows.

Stray Kids, meanwhile, appear focused on their own musical journey rather than becoming directly involved in the debate.

Who are the current Stray Kids members?

Stray Kids currently comprises Seungmin, Hyunjin, Felix, Bang Chan, Han and Lee Know.

The group has established itself as one of the leading names in K-pop, with a large international fan base and a growing presence in the global music industry.

With their latest album THIS & That, the members have reiterated that music and their connection with fans remain their primary priorities.
