The Special Task Force (STF) successfully apprehended the mastermind behind an illegal arms racket operating across multiple states.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a team conducted a raid in Munger, Bihar, leading to the arrest of Md Aslam (50), a key figure in the operation.
Md Aslam, who was actively involved in procuring illegally manufactured firearms from Bada Dhabaleswar village, Odisha, had multiple transactions with accused arms dealers. The arrested individual was previously linked to a case in Kolkata involving counterfeit currency and illegal weapons possession.
The operation exposed a clandestine arms manufacturing unit operating in the house of Sarat Chandra Yadav (58), located in Cuttack, Odisha. Investigators recovered a substantial quantity of materials used to fabricate 7mm pistols. Authorities had earlier arrested five individuals in connection with the case.
Following his arrest on May 20, 2025, Aslam was presented before a local court in Bihar before being transferred to Bhubaneswar under a three-day transit remand. He is scheduled to be produced before the Judicial Magistrate in Cuttack today.
Authorities continue their probe to identify further links and dismantle illegal arms networks operating across state borders.
