Bhubaneswar: After the seizure of a huge stock of spurious ‘Favipiravir’ from various districts of the state recently, the Odisha government on Sunday warned of stern action against fake medicine racket.
Taking the matter into serious consideration, Odisha Health Minister Naba Das said that strict action will be taken against fake medicine racket and it won’t be tolerated.
Acting on the information, the squad led by State Drugs Controller, Annada Sankar Das raided a chemist shop located at Kanika Chhak in the millennium city and seized at least 170 boxes containing 17,000 spurious Favipiravir tablets.
“After unthreading the procurement and distribution of Favipiravir medicines in various districts, it has been ordered to the police and Drug Control Squad to take appropriate measures to put checks on these incidents,” Das said.
“Based on the findings of the investigation and test reports, stern action will be taken against those found involved in the fake medicine business. There are clear instructions from the Chief Minister to take strict action against such black marketing,” Das added.
