Puri: The Srimandir Chhattisha Nijog, servitors’ body, on Saturday demanded strict action against rationalists who hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus on days of solar eclipse and lunar eclipse.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the Nijog Nayak Janardan Pattjoshi stated that a group of people considering themselves as rationalists have assassinated the character of Lord Sriram and his sibling Laxman, which hurts religious thoughts of Hindus.
“The rationalists have every right to live with their belief, but they have no right to oppose the religious thought and belief of crores of Hindus,” the letter read.
The rationalists also made obnoxious and distasteful comments on Mahaprasad which is considered sacred and pious by lakhs of devotees across the country and globe. They crossed all limits of waywardness, the letter read.
The Nijog also wrote to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police in this regard.
On the other hand, the rationalists demanded action against those who believe and propagate superstition in the society.
