A devastating road accident claimed the lives of two young men, while another sustained critical injuries as their speeding car lost control and crashed into a roadside tree near Mahulakhal under Kaliapani police station limits late on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Bishwanath Mahanta of Kaduabandi and Sanjay Kumar Mahanta of Mahulakhal. Authorities confirmed that the car was carrying five local youths returning home when the driver reportedly lost control at a high-speed turn, leading to the fatal collision. While two survived with minor injuries, one is battling for his life in the hospital.
Passersby, noticing the wreckage, alerted emergency services, allowing rescue efforts to commence swiftly. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash while urging motorists to prioritise road safety.
