At just 17 years old, Torres travelled to India as part of Spain’s squad for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.
Representing Valencia’s youth academy at the time, the young winger played a key role in Spain’s impressive campaign, contributing two goals and two assists as the team reached the final before finishing runners-up to England.

The decisive moment came in the 106th minute of extra time when Torres reacted quickest after Nico Williams’ effort struck the post, smashing a left-footed half-volley into the roof of the net to hand Spain a memorable victory over defending champions Argentina.
His match-winning strike earned him the Player of the Match award and secured Spain’s second FIFA World Cup title after their maiden triumph in 2010.

With his extra-time winner, Ferran Torres joined Andrés Iniesta as only the second player to score a World Cup-winning goal for Spain in a final.
