Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam has landed in controversy following a complaint filed against him for allegedly making divisive remarks during his recent concert in Bengaluru.
The complaint, filed by Kannada activist group Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), accuses Nigam of inciting linguistic hatred after he linked a fan’s request for a Kannada song to the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The alleged comments were made during performances on April 25 and 26 at East Point College of Engineering and Technology. KRV has demanded legal action against Nigam under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to promoting enmity based on language. The Bengaluru Police confirmed receipt of the complaint but have yet to register a formal case.
Nigam, known for his versatility and extensive contributions to the Indian music industry, has not issued any public statement regarding the controversy.
