A violent altercation broke out in Palash village near Hikudi outpost under Birmaharajpur police limits, following a longstanding feud between villagers.
Brundaban Padhan lodged a complaint against Sarat Bhoi and others, accusing them of attempting an attack and vandalizing his house.
Responding to the complaint, ASI Basanta Rath and a team of police officers arrived at the village on two motorcycles. Upon confronting Sarat Bhoi’s family, tensions escalated. Enraged male and female members of the household verbally abused the officers and allegedly smashed both police motorcycles.
The officers fled the scene for safety. Subsequently, SDPO Hemant Rao was informed, and a police team was dispatched to the village. Four individuals were arrested in connection with the attack. ASI Abhinash Padhan confirmed that further arrests would be made if others are found involved.
A case was registered, and the accused—Akshay Bagarti, Rakesh Bhoi, Sarat Bhoi, and Subarna Bhoi—were produced in court, according to police sources.
