Rajouri: An army soldier sustained injuries when terrorists attacked a newly established army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday.
The incident occurred at the Rashtriya Rifles camp situated in the Gundha Khawas area of Rajouri, where terrorists opened fire, resulting in the injury of an army soldier.
The army personnel returned fire, and the injured soldier was subsequently transported to a medical facility.
In response to the attack, a search operation has been initiated in the vicinity, with additional forces being deployed to assist in the operation.
To counteract the terrorist presence in the hilly districts of the Jammu division, approximately 4,000 extra soldiers, including elite Para Commandos and those skilled in mountain warfare, have been stationed.
Despite the general tranquillity of the Jammu division, there has been an increase in terrorist activities, prompting security forces to adapt their strategies to combat the terrorists’ guerrilla tactics.
Since June 9 of this year, there have been six reported terrorist attacks in the Jammu division, resulting in the loss of 12 security personnel.
The districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, and Kathua have experienced these attacks, where terrorists have exploited the element of surprise to execute ambushes in heavily forested regions.
