The grand ceremonial Pahandi procession of the Holy Trinity began with deep devotion and spiritual fervour at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on the sacred occasion of Debasnana Purnima.
The divine ritual commenced with the Pahandi of Lord Sudarshan, as servitors reverently escorted the deity from the sanctum sanctorum to the Snana Mandap. The air resonated with the blowing of conch shells, rhythmic beats of traditional drums, clashing of cymbals, and chanting of Vedic hymns.
Following Lord Sudarshan, the Pahandi of Lord Balabhadra began, marked by a majestic and slow ceremonial movement accompanied by cheers from thousands of devotees. Soon after, Devi Subhadra was brought out with equal grandeur and devotion. Her passage to the bathing altar was met with chants of “Jai Maa Subhadra” and ringing bells, creating an electrifying spiritual ambiance.
The much-awaited Pahandi of Mahaprabhu Jagannath finally began, with “Jai Jagannath” reverberating through the temple town. The Lord was carried in a majestic and graceful procession, symbolizing His readiness to bless the devotees gathered for the Snana Jatra.
All three deities are now en route to the Snana Mandap, where they will undergo the sacred ritual bath with 108 pitchers of sanctified water, marking the beginning of the Anasara period and preparations for the upcoming Rath Yatra.
