Smriti Mandhana’s Half-Ton Sets Dominating Total Against Ausies In First Pink-Ball Test

Queensland: In their first-ever pink-ball Test against Australia, India women batters put up a dominating total 132 for 1 in 44.1 overs before rain played spoilsport and led to early Stumps.

Smriti Mandhana remained unbeaten on 80, hitting a six and 15 boundaries during her 144-ball stay.
Mandhana looked set to make hay during the much-talked-about twilight period that was cut short by the rain in Queensland.

Mandhana and Shafali Verma stitched a 93-run opening stand in just 25 overs before the teenager was dismissed by Sophie Molineux for 31.

Punam Raut, who walked in at No. 3, steadied the ship and batted with a lot of control, hitting 16 not out in 57 balls.

Play on the remaining 3 days of the Pink-ball Test will get underway half an hour early (9:30 am IST) to make up for the lost time on Day 1. Smriti will be hoping to get to her maiden Test hundred when the action gets underway on Friday.
