Gujarat Titans’ captain, Shubman Gill, has been fined Rs 12 lakhs following his team’s slow over-rate in Match No. 35 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences. This marks the first over-rate violation for the Gujarat Titans this season.

Over-rate violations have been a point of concern in the IPL, as the league pushes for stricter enforcement to ensure timely match proceedings. Gill’s penalty reminds teams about adhering to regulations to maintain the flow of play.

Other matches in the IPL 2025 season have also witnessed disciplinary actions. As the league progresses, teams are expected to strategise better and ensure their bowlers complete their allocated overs on time to avoid penalties.
