A shocking incident unfolded in the Champa Pokhari area of Bhubaneswar, where a 23-year-old youth, Vikas Nayak, allegedly ended his life after suffering a financial loss of over Rs 4 lakh in an online game.

The tragic event has raised concerns over the growing dangers of excessive gaming and financial risks associated with online platforms.

According to reports, Nayak was an avid online gamer who frequently played on his mobile phone. However, his enthusiasm took a devastating turn when he encountered severe financial setbacks, reportedly losing a significant amount of money. Unable to cope with the overwhelming stress, he allegedly chose to end his life.

Upon receiving information, local authorities rushed to the scene and recovered Nayak’s body for post-mortem examination. His mobile phone has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police have registered a case and are probing deeper into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The incident has intensified debates over the risks of online gaming, particularly involving financial stakes.
