India captain Shubman Gill jumped three spots to reach the second position in the ICC ODI rankings for batters after his strong performances against Afghanistan.
He now trails New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell by only 24 rating points. Gill scored 84 and 154 in the first two matches of the series, helping India secure a 3-0 victory.
Ishan Kishan also made a big move, climbing 21 places to 43rd among batters. Among bowlers, Arshdeep Singh rose 16 spots to 22nd, Prasidh Krishna jumped 34 places to 58th, and Washington Sundar advanced 17 positions to joint 71st.
Virat Kohli slipped to third after missing the Afghanistan series due to a hamstring injury, while Rohit Sharma held steady at fourth. Shreyas Iyer moved up to 14th, and KL Rahul dropped to 11th.
In Test cricket, New Zealand pacer Matt Henry joined India’s Jasprit Bumrah as the world’s top-ranked bowler. Henry’s 11-wicket haul in the second Test against England propelled him to the No. 1 spot, making him only the third New Zealander after Jack Cowie and Richard Hadlee to achieve this feat.
England’s Joe Root reclaimed the No. 1 ranking among Test batters after his strong showing against New Zealand.
